Preparation for Licensure to Professional Practice

Throughout the course of the semester, there have been so many areas of opportunity to prepare for the NCLEX and licensure to come. With each ATI came a performance report that was individualized. Through looking at those, I was able to determine that sometimes I go too quickly through an exam and it allowed me the change to slow my thought process down and not to jump to an answer without gaining full perspective of the question. With COVID, many hardships have been placed on our class, making taking exams more difficult in regards to concentration. Another aspect I found is that I was able to stop changing my answers unless necessary words were missed. Through the content gaps that ATI has identified for me, I will be able to fine tune my studying technique for the NCLEX examination as I will have a better understanding of topics that I maybe needed to review. I am eager to attend the NCLEX live review that ATI provides for us as yet another opportunity for preparation. Through finding these gaps, I am eager to use those as an opportunity to learn or review topics that very well could be on the NCLEX. In preparing for the NCLEX, I am eager to use all of the resources and books ATI has provided for us. I found the reports for ATI to be very useful in seeing where I may have deficits and need to brush up on, as well as areas that maybe I did not learn and must review. When talking about self-care aspects and relating it to the idea of examination, I believe I have developed some skills that allow me to better study. I found that my time management skills have been much better this semester as I plan out my days accordingly to assignments, work schedule, and class or clinical schedules. I noticed that before i was getting very stressed out with having to work, do homework, attend class, and prepare for exams. This semester I feel very different as I am less stressed and have more time to do the things I want and need to do for myself because of my time management and work-life balance skills. As the semester progressed, I noticed myself doing work far in advance and using my free time to engage in more activities that I enjoyed, such as going to the gym or spending time with people I may not have before due to the rising stress levels. With all of my newly learned skills that I have developed not only this semester, but over the past four years, I feel prepared in my study habits to prepare for licensure. With my time management skills, I will be able to take the time to study and take breaks as needed. I will also be able to have a better balance between my studies and life events and activities that I want to do. I am thankful for all of the resources UNE and ATI have given us to prepare us for these new life events that will begin to take place and for the opportunity for licensure soon.
