Preparing for Transition

Graduation is coming up very soon, within the next four months or so and a lot of life changes are going to come along with that. These four years when in the moment went by slowly, but I feel as though I approached senior year quickly and I am anxious to see what my future has in store. I am most excited about the idea of all of my hard work paying off and having a diploma and BSN title after my name. Times are definitely hard and stressful, especially being in my senior year of nursing school during a pandemic. COVID-19 has effected everyone that I know, and I am eager to begin my career in hopes to help out in some way to provide compassionate care to those who need it most.

With that being said, celebrating graduation and all of my accomplishments in my four years at UNE will be much different as we will most likely be in the midst of a pandemic. I am hopeful that things will be better and that I will be able to celebrate with close friends and family at a small gathering. I have a few things that I am most anxious about, one being that I feel like since graduation is so soon, that I am not mentally ready to leave my closest friends and begin my career as an RN. Another thing I am anxious about it beginning my career in a pandemic, as COVID itself has brought a lot of hardships to my learning and ability for us to learn in the clinical setting. In these next few months, I will be sure to make SMART goals to assess my own learning and keep organized to be successful on the NCLEX. When doing the ATI Nurse Logic 2.0 modules, I am learning how to read the questions and narrow down my answers. I feel as though the modules are very helpful in the fact that they resemble the NCLEX and other ATI exams very well, and I am anxious to keep doing them and strengthen my learning and practicing questions that will resemble the NCLEX. Through the modules, I also learned a lot about the actual NCLEX, how to prepare, and also how to prepare for any of my lecture exams to enhance my learning.

I like to keep myself organized with my planner that I put all of my important due dates and assignments into, as well as clinical days or simulation. I enjoy reviewing information before class time to gain a better understanding of what is going to be talked about. I often write out my own notes before class time, and add important parts that the teacher lectures on during class time. Sometimes all of this hard work seems like a lot and can be overwhelming, but I am excited to be looking at the bigger picture of graduation and taking the NCLEX with confidence,
